The Ministry
Jesus has led us on an incredible journey leading to the purchase of The Ministry, 1 Castle Boulevard. We held our first meeting there in April 2010.
The Story
After a 2 year search, in September 2009 we discovered the former employment exchange on Castle Boulevard, right in the city centre. Seeming like the opportunity of a life-time, we had just a fortnight to raise funds for a sealed bid.
In November 2009, having held an offering and secured a mortgage, we were able to submit our bid. Soon after, against all odds, we received news that it had been accepted. Within four weeks we had been granted planning permission for change of use, exchanging contracts in the New Year and completing a few weeks later.
Making The Move
The race was on to make the venue useable allowing us to move out of Notts County Football ground where we had met for the last 6 years.
Although the building is in very good condition we needed work to be done on all the internal systems to gain the relevant certification, as well as installing 3 new central heating boilers, upgrading the gas supply into the building, fitting out the new offices and various other works.
Our first meeting at The Ministry was a midweek prayer meeting on 18th March using space heaters because the heating contractors had not finished work in the boiler house. Staging and chairs were delivered next and the heating was switched on the day before our first Sunday meeting on 11th April 2010.Phase II
Having held our Offering Sundays in May we are now in “Phase II” of the development work of The Ministry which will begin the essential maintenance works, developing the facilities within the building, branding the building, painting and decorating and fitting out the main hall.
