I was powerless
I have always called myself a Christian, but for years I thought Christianity was all about following rules and being a nice person. In fact I thought I was pretty good at it. But there always seemed to be something missing in my life - something other Christians had that I just wasn't experiencing.
All that changed when God showed me just how much I was living my own way and ignoring him. Realising that I was powerless to live God’s way through my own efforts, I cried out to him for forgiveness.Relationship with God
But God wasn't content merely to cancel out all the stuff I was doing wrong. He wanted to have a relationship with me. He wanted to have me for his own and adopt me as a son. In fact, I believe this is the very purpose for which you and I were created - to be in relationship with God.
And it's incredible. I can talk to him, and he talks to me. He is intimately concerned with every detail of my life, and loves to guide me through it. I have experienced the powerful presence of God in ways I can hardly describe. And I have total assurance that he loves me and will never leave me, in this life or the next.
